We slept in to after 7 mountain time but got off to a great day. We could not fit on the coal mine tours with the bus load of real old seniors, so we went to the airport and chartered a plane for an hour.

Dick, Ted (our pilot) and Tom. |
It was better than we could have imagined. The pilot was 74 years young and gave us a several hundred mile flight seeing all the strip mines, mile long trains and new electric generating plants.
Ted was our pilot and he grew up out here and was very knowledgeable of the ares. Gillette is considered by many the energy capital of the US with both coal, methane and oil wells.
We drove I90 past Sheridan WY and took rt 14 over the Big Horn Mountains to Cody.
We had dinner at the Irma Hotel where they had a street full of performers in old west period outfits and a huge crowd.

Ruskie! Jimmy was a summer student worker from Russia. This is his second tour working here in the states. He loves America and especially the young ladies he has meet. We considers him a Russian gift to the ladies of which he is quite proud. He had excellent command of English and a killer smile. Go for it. |
We drank beer at the original 1902 Buffalo Bill bar and had wonderful conversation with many delightful people. |
Buck spent the last 48 years working in Alaska's only coal mine. Now retired he is returning to Thermopolis Wy that is where he grew up. Of course he has a Harley and enjoys the ride to Cody for dinner at the Irma |
